President's Message

Happy Holidays ARAV family! As 2022 winds down, I hope all of you have a safe and healthy holiday season. We are looking forward to a new year of resources and educational opportunities to help you practice a high quality of reptile and amphibian medicine. Thank you all for supporting ARAV through maintaining your membership, attending our conferences (both in-person and virtually), donating to our fundraising efforts, and volunteering your services through committee work or on the board. Here’s to a bright and prosperous 2023!

Student Mentorship Program Now Available!

Attention All Students!

We are excited to announce the launch of our student mentorship program. As a benefit of a paid ARAV student membership, you can be paired with an ARAV member for mentorship.

ARAV mentors are volunteer members with an interest in helping you grow your interest and start your career in reptile and amphibian medicine. Mentors can help share their career path and advice, talk about interesting reptile or amphibian cases, or discuss current manuscripts and research in reptile and amphibian medicine. You are encouraged to reach out to your mentor with any questions about your career path or interesting cases as well.

If you would like to be paired with an ARAV mentor, please complete this FORM. You will be paired with an ARAV mentor based on your responses and common interests, where possible.

We encourage communication with your mentor through email, calls, or virtual meetings throughout the year, depending on your preference. We are also planning on facilitating a meet and greet at the ARAV conference, ExotisCo, annually.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Sincerely,
Colin McDermott, VMD, DABVP (Reptile/Amphibian), CertAqV
